Why do you train? For me it is simple: I need a purpose/goal! And I need to have fun, push my limits and not doing the same thing over and over again.
I started master athletic track and field two years ago ( I am turning 46 the day after tomorrow) after competing in a friendly family competition with my kids. I have no background in organised sports.
My body gave out and I walked on crutches afterwards. I understood that I had to stop thinking about training and start to do some training
There are some active master athletes in the same team that my kids train in. So I asked if I could join and got invited to a throwing event for teams. I tried shot put, discus, javelin and hammer throw. It was really funny and I realised I wanted to continue. But to do the things I find funny I need to train my body so it doesn't give up on me.
First I trained with the team, after a year I added som training with a personal trainer to get a better understanding what I needed to train (the PT was right and I was wrong). The PT pushed my limits and convinced me to try yoga. I've always been positive to poweryoga and I had been thinking about starting the ddpyoga thing. But this summer I challenged my self to do yoga everyday during my vaccation. And then I found Sean Vigue.
Now I can pick different training videos and not do the same thing every time. I can push my limits (try some Pylata) and revisit some worlout I did some time ago to feel the progress.
I always say that I hate to train- but by doing different things it becomes funny. And I do it to be able to throw that damn hammer or that even more damned weight without feeling my body protest.
To fool myself to train I record my workouts with a heart rtate monitor connected to my Polar watch. Numbers are fun and you can follow up the training benefit and compare it to other workouts,
Another benefit from training is that my migraine is under much better control!
So think why you train -what do you want? Perhaps you need to train with another person ? Do a Sean Vigue Workout with someone you know! But if you struggle with finishing a video - perhaps you need to domething else and then come back after some time? How can you miss it if you never had gone away?
